From the south of Tuscany, to the land around the Etna Volcano: in this virtual journey, we “accompany” you to “taste” a rare and magnificent wine.
We will take you, together with a master like Andrea Franchetti, a young, attentive and prepared oenologist, to a forgotten place in the extreme south of Tuscany, where his nose told him that the Bordeaux vines would produce good fruit.
Time and work have proved him right: today his Trinoro is considered one of the best Italian reds.
Encouraged by these magnificent results, Andrea bought some farms on the eastern side of the Etna Volcano, in Sicily. And here too he has created absolute masterpieces under the name of Passopisciaro.
Both projects are distinguished by their extraordinary complexity and the extreme diversity of their terroir. Two young, dynamic and avant-garde wine-growing realities.

A masterpiece is born from intuition
An area with no vocation for wine production. Around as far as the eye can see, woods and abandoned fields. Thus, Tenuta di Trinoro was born out of nothing, located in the hamlet of Castiglioncello del Trinoro in the Italian town of Sarteano, in the province of Siena, in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy: Tuscany. Andrea Franchetti let himself be carried away by his intuition and around the 90s he restored an old fortified house in the spectacular Val d’Orcia and decided to plant vineyards where there have never been any… Thus, after the first years of normal experimentation, the first vintage of the Tenuta di Trinoro was born: 1997. Today, however, we can enjoy and taste this wine (2015) and discover what inspired Franchetti, when he decided to start with this adventure: in this red made of grapes, mainly Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and then combine Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, there is the essence of his being so talented and charismatic.
